I wouldn't be so hard on gen Z. Their future is so bleak. They will be up to their eyeballs in debt, not building any wealth with weak career outlooks as people hesitate to retire, freezing senior positions. By the time they hit their 40's they will look so much worse than we will and they won't have the cash to get fixed up. If the dollar slides dramatically, they are going to be the ones to really feel the pain. Their wages will not keep up with inflation and they won't have the inflation-proof assets that we do that can keep them financially above water.

You think automation will result in UBI...because? There is already grumbling of the dollar losing its privileged position because of DC's spending binge. When that happens UBI will be a fantasy. The tax code and federal outlays are completely reflective of an age=wealth, white collar culture. Look at the median age and wealth of Congress. The will never implement a genuine restructuring of the economy to break that system because they and their donors are beneficiaries of that system. Which is fine by me. I am as well. The clever members Gen Z will be just like the clever ones of Millennials, X and boomers. Either play by the system and politic to promotion and success or flounder and become asset-bereft, wage slaves tenants. Those not exiting their 20's with worn-out assholes and maxed credit cards over solid career gains and equity reflective of that are going to have a very cruel awakening. It is the way of reality.
